Electrical Safety
Transformers that will be used outside (as almost all will!) really need a 3-prong plug. Beware of the “for indoor use only” transformer as, in order to find an indoor plug and then run the cable to your fixture outdoors these are often more trouble than the price savings is worth. Find a UL-approved transformer that can be used in or out of doors.

Selecting A Fountain (water gardens fountains)

Filed under: Water Fountains — Admin @ 9:05 am

Selecting A Fountain
Selecting a fountain that is proportionate to your land should be the first step in adding a fountain to your landscape. Yards come in every imaginable shape, size, and form. Some yards and gardens are as big as an entire town, others are as small as a few inches. The first step in selecting a fountain that will fit in your garden is finding out what size would look right. This doesn’t mean you need a measuring tape or a ruler to find this out. Look at the bigger picture and come up with a general plan as to what size would work for your needs. For example, if you have a small garden, you might note that you want a fountain no bigger then a few feet tall and a few feet wide. This should give you enough information to make the right choice when purchasing a fountain.

Light Fixtures (commercial drinking water fountains)

Filed under: Water Fountains — Admin @ 12:30 am

Light Fixtures
There are light fixtures that can be placed inside a fountain or underneath the water. These can have a delightful effect in shallow fountain water as they reflect and refract under the constant changes of lightly falling water. It is important to light the area evenly, using several lights, creating a triangle or circle around a central pillar, or one large light in the center of a bowl shaped fountain. You could try inserting a light below the water under a second tier; illuminating the shape from beneath may have a bold and interesting effect. Always make sure to choose lights that are intended for underwater use.
